Howard F. Roessler
Apr 19, 2018Roessler, 83, died Saturday, April 14, 2018.Born Nov. 10, 1934, in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Howard Eugene and Madeline (Hock) Roessler. On Dec. 16, 1978, in Smithtown, N.Y., he married Karen Vennari, and together they celebrated 39 years of marriage.A graduate of the James Madison High School, Brooklyn, N.Y., he later graduated from The New York City Police Academy. He served honorably in the Navy.Mr. Roessler was a detective for the New York City Police Department for over 18 years.After leaving Smithtown with their son, he and his wife arrived in Lewisburg in 1984. Here they started their own family restaurant, Vennari’s Pizza. Vennari’s has been in business for 33 years.He was a member of the Community Theatre League, Smithtown, N.Y. Additionally, he was actively involved in the Lewisburg area, often performing at Central Oaks Heights.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Mary Lou Peters, Jane (Bill) Allen, and Frank (NicciFaires) Roessler; and four grandchildren, Courtney, Daniel, William and Peri.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean (Roessler) Martinson.Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 51 S. Third St, Lewisburg, where he was a member. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mackenzie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Winfield.The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg. (Milton Daily Standard)
